It was as if stunning Darwin
based model and newly crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia 2004 winner Narelle Minchin, 20, had brought the tropical climate with her from the Northern Territory as the Miss Hawaiian Tropic
Australian Final just happened to coincide with the warmest day in recorded history on the Gold Coast this past Saturday (Feb 21) With the mercury topping 41° C (105.8° F) a huge crowd
had flocked to the Troccadero Entertainment Centre in Surfers Paradise to witness a spectacular parade of beauty as 22 of Australia’s top up-and-coming swimwear models competed for the coveted title. The Miss Hawaiian Tropic National Final was the culmination of an exhaustive
4 month long nationwide model search. The national finalists representing top entertainment venues across the country converged on Surfers Paradise for a
week of fun, media events and rehearsals leading up to the spectacular national event. They all had their sights firmly set on the prestigious national title and the right
to represent Australia in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic World Finals in Las Vegas in April.
The judging panel included Miss Calendar Girl Australia 2004 - Sharlene Beihoff
who was on hand to help select and crown the new winner. The panel had a difficult task separating the national finalists, but after appearing first in
an energetic active wear routine and then impressing the judges again in the swimwear section, Narelle emerged as the winner.

The Top End Hotel in Darwin, Northern Territory. She is 5”11’ with blonde hair and blue eyes. Narelle is a promotional model and works within the hospitality industry. Her interests include dancing,
camping and quad bike riding.
Narelle’s prize package includes a return trip to the world finals in Las Vegas in April including accommodation and meals at the spectacular Treasure Island
Casino & Resort right on the legendary Vegas “glitter strip” and $700 spending money. She will also walk away with $1,200 worth of high-tech body toning equipment from the BODYTONE REJUVENATION CENTRE
. She further receives $500 worth of photography from FISHER FOTOS. Narelle will also have her own web site developed courtesy of PACNET ON-LINE CONSULTING.
While in Las Vegas, Narelle
will be competing for the world title aginst up to eighty (89) top swimwear models from all over the world. The total World Finals prize package is worth over $200,000 and includes a brand new
Chrysler PT Cruiser, a Donzi Classic Sports Boat, a high-powered Yamaha waverunner, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, modelling contracts, jewellery, clothing and overseas trips.
She will meet celebrities and personalities from all fields of entertainment,
arts and sport etc.. The judging panel often includes people like John Casablancas - founding chairman of Elite Modelling Agency in New York,
singers from supergroups like N*Sync and Backstreet Boys, sporting legends including NFL Superbowl champions and stars from hit TV series and movies such as action star Jean Claude Van Damme
.
Interestingly, Narelle
was also selected for the title of Miss Photogenic and added to her bounty of prizes with another $150 cash prize and a model portfolio photo shoot worth $500 courtesy of Fisher Fotos.
The first runner-up was Leigh Segboer, 25, representing Xtreme Sports Bar – Logan, QLD. Leigh received a $300 cash prize and $300 worth of photography. Second runner-up was Roseanne Hogan
, 22, representing Adrenalin Sports bar – Brisbane, QLD and she received a $100 cash prize and $100 worth of photography.
Twenty year old dancer Tina Steel, representing
Shenanigans Niteclub in Cairns performed a crowd pleasing routine in the Active Wear section which earned her a $150 cash prize courtesy of Smithy Clothing. Emily McNaught
, 18, representing The Islander Resort was voted Miss Personality by the other finalists.
