T w enty five year old blonde bombshell Rachael Donald from Hotel LA, Brisbane, QLD, beat 22 of the nation’s top up-and-coming bikini models for the coveted title of Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia 2006 at the National Final held in Surfers Paradise on Saturday afternoon (18th March).

The Miss Hawaiian Tropic National Final was the culmination of an exhaustive 4 month long nationwide model search. The national finalists representing top entertainment venues across the country converged on Surfers Paradise for a week of fun, media events and rehearsals leading up to the spectacular national final. They all had their sights firmly set on the prestigious national title and the right to represent Australia in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic World Finals in Las Vegas next month.

This year saw the return of the popular pool party atmosphere following 3 years of the event being held indoors. The catwalk was built into the pool hovering only inches above the sparkling resort pool and surrounded by lucky competition winners who had scored themselves a “Floating VIP Seat” through local station Radio Metro.

Rachael is 166cm tall with blonde hair and green eyes. Racheal is a fashion designer and business student. Her interests include travel, camping, snow skiing and fishing.

Rachael’s prize package includes a return trip to the world finals in Las Vegas in April including accommodation and meals at the spectacular Treasure Island Casino & Resort right on the legendary Vegas “glitter strip” with $500 spending money. She further receives $700 worth of photography from Pete Nash Photography. Rachael will also have her own web site developed and hosted courtesy of PACNET MULTIMEDIA.

The Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Model Search is recognised by the Guiness Book Of World Records as the world’s largest pageant and it is also widely recognised as the world’s richest swimwear based pageant. The total World Finals prize package is worth over $200,000 and often includes prizes such as a brand new car, a high powered ski boat, a waverunner, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, lucrative modelling contracts, jewellery, clothing and overseas trips.

While in Las Vegas, Rachael will be competing for the world title against more than 130 top swimwear models from over 60 countries. She will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with celebrities and personalities from a wide range of fields including entertainment, arts and sport etc.. The judging panel often features people like John Casablancas - founding chairman of Elite Modelling Agency in New York, singers from supergroups like N*Sync and Backstreet Boys, sporting legends including NFL Superbowl champions, basketball stars such as Shaquille O’Neill and stars from hit TV series and movies such as action star Jackie Chan.

This year’s first runner-up was Adele Milano , 21 from South Australia. Adele received a $200 cash prize as well as product prizes from Star FX and Kaos.
