Striking blonde bombshell Zara Milich, 20, was still in shock on Sunday morning as she was besieged by
representatives from the media wanting to know all about her. They joined her for a poolside champagne breakfast after she won the coveted title of Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia 2003 at the National
Final held the night before on Saturday 16th February in Surfers Paradise.
The Miss Hawaiian Tropic National Final was the culmination of an
exhaustive 4 month long nationwide model search. It saw twenty one of Australia’s top up-an-coming bikini models converge on Surfers Paradise for a week of fun and rehearsals leading up to the spectacular national
event. Billed as Australia’s “biggest indoor beach party”, the capacity crowd at the Troccadero Entertainment Centre were treated a to a spectacular display of beauty as Australia's top up-and-coming bikini
models strutted their stuff. They all had their sights firmly set on the prestigious national title and the right to represent Australia in the world finals in Hawaii in April.
The judging panel included Miss Calendar Girl Australia 2001 - Surfers
Paradise model Tabetha Whitby who was on hand to help select and crown the new winner. The panel had a difficualt task separating the national finalists, but after appearing first in an energetic active wear
routine and then impressing the judges again in the swimwear section, Zara emerged as the winner.
Zara was sponsored by Players Sports Bar in Ipswich. She is 5”6 with
blonde hair and blue eyes. She is a cheerleader and student and her interests include car racing, wake boarding and dancing.
Zara’s prize package includes a return trip to the world finals in Hawaii in
April including accommodation and meals at the spectacular Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu and $500 spending money. She will
also walk away with $1,200 worth of high-tech body toning equipment from the BODYTONE REJUVENATION CENTRE. She will look stunning in an exclusive gown worth up to $1,000 courtesy of GLITZ DESIGNZ
and she will receive $500 worth of photography from FISHER FOTOS.
Zara will have her own web site developed courtesy of
PACNET ON-LINE CONSULTING and she gets a one year membership with AMTIN – The Australian Model & Talent Industry Network.
While in Hawaii, Zara will be competing for the world title aginst up to
eighty (80) top swimwear models from all over the world. The total World Finals prize package is worth over $200,000 and includes a brand new Chrysler PT Cruiser, a Donzi Classic Sports Boat, a high-powered Yamaha
waverunner, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, modelling contracts, jewellery, clothing and overseas trips.
She will meet celebrities and personalities from all fields of entertainment,
arts and sport etc.. The judging panel often includes people like John Casablancas - founding chairman of Elite Modelling Agency in New York,
singers from supergroups like N*Sync and Backstreet Boys, sporting legends including NFL Superbowl champions and stars from hit TV series and movies such as action star Jean Claude Van Damme

First runner-up was Alisha Kelly
, 18, representing Area 1 – The Club, Bunbury WA. Alisha received a $300 cash prize and $300 worth of photography. In fact, it was a huge afternoon for Alisha. In the Active Wear
section, Alisha, , performed a crowd pleasing routine which earned her another $150 cash prize courtesy of Smithy Clothing. Alisha was also voted Miss Personality by the other finalists. Second runner-up was
Natalie Gillard, 19, representing Seabreeze Hotel – Newcastle, NSW and she received a $100 cash prize and $100 worth of photography.
Samantha Steele
, 20, representing Heat Nightlub @ Crown Casino, Melbourne VIC, was selected as Miss Photogenic and received a model portfolio photo shoot worth $500 from Fisher Fotos as well as $150 cash
prize courtesy Fisher Fotos.
