Brains & beauty has Gold Coast university student Las Vegas bound for world’s biggest swimwear pageant
SURFERS PARADISE. Not even torrential rain could douse the heat at the 2008 Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia Final! The final had to be paused twice for some substantial showers
but nothing could stop nineteen year old university student Raychel Frew
(representing The Bedroom Nightclub) from “outstrutting” the nation’s top up-and-coming bikini models for the coveted title of Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia 2008 at the National Final held in Surfers Paradise on Saturday afternoon 5th April.
The Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia Final was the culmination of an exhaustive 4 month long nationwide model search. The national finalists representing top entertainment venues across the country converged
on Surfers Paradise for a week of fun, media events and rehearsals leading up to the spectacular national final. They all had their sights firmly set on the prestigious national title and the right to represent
Australia in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic World Finals in Las Vegas in May.
The judging panel, led by last year’s title winner Melissa Kelly and including Miss V8 Supermodel 2007 winner Emma Reese
as well as top model & TV personality Lisa Jenkins, had their work cut out for them as the stunning finalists took to the spectacular $10,000 catwalk hovering only inches above the sparkling resort pool.
However, after watching the finalists first strutting their stuff in the Theme Wear and then in the Swimwear section, the judges’ decision was
unanimous; Raychel had displayed all the qualities they were looking for. She embodied head turning beauty with elegance, poise and personality.
Raychel is 171cm tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes and she currently studies physiotherapy. Her role model is Angelina Jolie as she proves that beauty and intelligence can indeed go hand in hand.
Raychel’s prize package includes a return trip to the world finals in Las Vegas in May including accommodation, meals and spending money at the spectacular Golden Nugget Casino & Resort right on the legendary
Freemont Street. She further receives photography prizes from Pete Nash Photography and Raychel will also have her own web site developed and hosted courtesy of PACNET MULTIMEDIA.
While in Las Vegas, Raychel will be competing for the international title against top swimwear models from all over the world.
This year’s first runner-up was Emma Taylor
, 19, representing Fitzy's Mbar Loganholme. Emma also won the Miss Photogenic title and added a model portfolio photo shoot to her bounty of prizes courtesy of Pete Nash Photography.
Second runner-up was
Monisha Lew Fatt, 18, representing Fitzy's, Waterford.
The Theme Wear section title went to 18 year old sales assistant Lauren Emmens representing The Clink Nightclub, Perth, WA.
Nineteen year old Bachelor of Health Science student Jessica Breust representing Kings Beach Tavern on the Sunshine Coast was voted Miss Personality by the other finalists.
